What do I need to play background music in my business?
In Portugal, a company that publicly plays commercial music on its premises needs:
First of all, a background music provider duly licensed for commercial use. This can be confirmed on the websites of the copyright collecting societies, as is the case with Waybox.
As well as a public performance licensing certificate from SPA and Audiogest. The former represents copyright holders, while the latter represents musical artists and producers — that is, holders of related rights.
As an alternative, Waybox offers a package, Waybox Plus, which already includes all copyright and related-rights licences within its monthly fee. This is a Free Music* service, featuring music from independent artists across the widest range of genres and themes.
